Message from the Executive Director
Imagine a community that embraces its elders – that provides housing, recreational opportunities, wellness programs and social supports. Imagine a community that respects the historical contributions of those who came before them, and celebrates their legacy. Imagine a community that understands seniors make an important contribution to friends, families and neighbors.
Imagine all this coming to life as an Aging Campus that provides what is needed for seniors to age — in place and with dignity — in their own community.
This was the dream of my late husband, Dr. George W. Davis. A long standing community activist working for the good of the community, Dr. Davis took great care during his three decades of leadership to develop ongoing relationships with local, state and federal agencies; to forge profitable partnerships with private developers, leading corporations, and private foundations. His charisma and humble integrity helped win support for Bayview Senior Services and his community.
While we all miss his presence, Dr. Davis’s legacy lives on through his vision of an Aging Campus. We have expanded our campus adding our first supportive housing and a new senior center named in his honor.120 units of affordable senior housing co-located with a 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art senior center opened in June 2016.
Dr. Davis would be the first to say that he did not do any of this alone. We stand on the shoulders of many dedicated seniors and supporters – people who dedicated their time and energies to Bayview Senior Services over the past forty-plus years. It has been a labor of love and a testimony to the resilience of the Bayview Hunters Point community.
We can now say his dream of creating an Aging Campus is alive and we continue to expand our services for seniors within their communities. The support of many people brought us to this moment in time. Your involvement and financial support will continue to carry us forward as we offer Dignity, Respect, and Honor to our seniors.
