Certificate of Preference
In the 1960s and ‘70s, Certificates of Preference were issued to many residents in Hunters Point and Western Addition when they were moved out of their homes by the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency when it was implementing the federally-funded urban renewal program. Many people, however, are unaware of the Certificate of Preference Program and may not know they are still eligible if they lived in households that were on Redevelopment property at that time.
A Certificate of Preference could be your ticket to newly developed properties in San Francisco. The Certificate of Preference gives the holder priority consideration on the waiting list to obtain a housing unit.
